Title: The Boudoir Party

City you live in: "Orange County, CA (Huntington Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita)"

If we could have dinner with anyone, it would be… "Anthony Bourdain."

One thing we cannot live without… "A camera. It captures moments and memories that are sometimes overlooked or forgotten. The idea that an image can freeze time, for a second, is invaluable."

When we were younger, we wanted to be… "Traveling Photographers - seeing the world and documenting it along the way!"

The one person who motivates us is… "Each other. We always look to each other for inspiration, affirmation, and motivation. Whether it's in business or just within our friendship, we continuously lift each other up!"

If we could change anything in the world, it would be… "War. It’s destructive. We are meant to build each other up, not tear each other down. We believe life is meant to be lived in love and community with others."

Currently working on… "Building a successful company and strong brand over social media. Our current focus is Instagram and Facebook, and want to leverage the connections we make over these outlets in order to reach a broader audience. "

Always… "Try to wear a smile."

Never… "Have regrets."

Favorite Quote… "Travel is not reward for working. It's education for living." “Wherever you are, be all there.”

Biggest Dream… "For every woman who wishes to participate in a boudoir shoot, to have one! It's such an empowering experience and encourages self love, which is something we truly believe in and feel there needs to be more of amongst our society."

Pet Peeve(s)… "Bad lighting and empty champagne glasses ;)"

How did you start “The Boudoir Party”? "Due to our backgrounds in wedding photography over the years, we noticed that during a bride’s “getting ready” photos, there were so many details that all the ladies brought to use and so little time to capture them all. From coordinated lingerie and robes, to shoes and jewelry, to the joyful popping of champagne bottles, we saw a need for these moments to be cherished on another level. Enter: The Boudoir Party. During the experience, we offer a fun pre-wedding day shoot that provides ladies with even more quality time with their closest friends. While the bride will have a dedicated one-on-one session, The Boudoir Party is designed to include her closest friends for group photos too. It's like no other party out there - the laughs, the toasts, the fun - we want every girl to remember how it feels to be loved, supported by others, and kickass in the skin they're in."

What do you do to keep yourself inspired? "We shoot often, we research daily, and we keep ourselves current by following trends and unique styles! We are absolutely inspired by the “babes support babes” movement and discover so many creative ideas when we collaborate with others!"

How did you grow your business? "Throughout our careers in photography, we’ve both enjoyed the smaller, one-on-one portraiture sessions with people - you really get to know your subject throughout the shoot, and have more time to capture who they truly are. With this in mind, along with our love for making women feel beautiful, we have figured out a way to take shy, timid and nervous ladies to open up and feel sexy and confident in front of our lens. It really is a life-changing experience for our clients. We’ve taken this goal of altering the way women see themselves (for the better) and transformed it into an investment-worthy photoshoot experience."

Do you have any mentors? "Our fellow community photographers have been very supportive and offered plenty of advice throughout the process of starting this business. Whether we’ve shot alongside them multiple times or have only chatted through social media, the creative individuals surrounding us have continually provided us with guidance, ideas and kind words. "

What do you recommend to someone getting started in the photography industry and especially boudoir? "Go for it. If you have an idea, find people around you that will keep you motivated. Find something you love, and it will never feel like work. If the focus is on boudoir, make sure you embody and believe in the same ideas you portray. It’s so important to believe in what you represent. "

What is something you wish someone told you earlier about the photography industry? "How competitive it is. Although, someone definitely warned us of this, we didn't realize just how competitive it was and that it would only get harder as phone cameras and other technology advances occurred. Nowadays, it seems everyone claims to be a 'photographer'."

Have you ever done your own boudoir session? If so how did it go? "Yes! Both of us have. And we actually photographed each other. It’s not only a rewarding experience to be on the other side of the camera, but we believe it’s imperative. To know and to feel what our clients experience is what makes us better artists behind the lens."

How do you prepare for each session? "We prepare for each session by sending a questionnaire to our client to get to know her better. We ask her things like, what’s your favorite physical feature, what kind of music do you listen to and what kinds of things make you feel sexy? This gives a personal element to their shoot so that we know what to focus on and what kinds of poses they may feel more comfortable in. We make a special playlist for their shoot, and of course have light snacks and bubbly on hand!"

What are 3 things you would tell a photographer to have for a boudoir session? Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, carry multiple lenses, and don’t forget the champagne!
